The DSPIC30F6011A-30I/PF from Microchip Technology is a high-performance 16-bit Digital Signal Controller (DSC) in an 80-pin TQFP package. The device combines the processing power of a DSP with the flexibility of a microcontroller, featuring a modified Harvard architecture with a 24-bit wide instruction word and 16-bit data path. The dsPIC core operates at up to 30 MIPS and includes a dedicated DSP engine with dual 40-bit accumulators, a 17×17-bit single-cycle hardware multiplier, and single-cycle multiply-accumulate (MAC) operation with optional saturation logic. The 132KB Flash program memory stores up to 44K instructions, while 8KB SRAM provides data storage with separate X and Y data spaces for dual-data-fetch DSP operations. Two KB of data EEPROM provides non-volatile data storage with 100,000 erase/write cycle endurance. Dual CAN 2.0B modules enable automotive and industrial networking with two independent bus interfaces. The 12-bit 200Ksps ADC provides up to 16 channels of analog input with multiple conversion sequencing options. The DCI (Data Converter Interface) supports connection to audio codecs with configurable time-slot protocols. Communication interfaces include two UARTs with FIFO buffers, two SPI modules, and one I2C module supporting multi-master/slave mode.

The DSPIC30F6011A-30I/PF integrates a 16-bit DSC core with DSP engine and extensive peripherals. (1) dsPIC Core: The modified Harvard architecture has separate program and data memories. The 24-bit instruction word enables compact encoding of complex operations. The 16-bit ALU performs arithmetic and logic operations. (2) DSP Engine: The DSP engine includes a 17×17-bit hardware multiplier, two 40-bit accumulators, a 40-bit barrel shifter, and modulo/bit-reversed addressing. Single-cycle MAC operations enable efficient FIR/IIR filter and FFT implementations. (3) Memory: The Flash program memory is organized as 24-bit wide words. The dual-bus SRAM architecture allows simultaneous X and Y data fetches for DSP operations. (4) CAN Modules: Each CAN module implements the CAN 2.0B protocol with transmit and receive buffers, acceptance filtering, and error management. (5) ADC: The 12-bit successive approximation ADC converts analog inputs with programmable acquisition time and automatic channel scanning. (6) DCI: The Data Converter Interface provides a synchronous serial port optimized for connecting to audio codecs with I2S-like time-division multiplexed data formats.
