The TPS79333DBVR from Texas Instruments is a 200mA low-noise, high-PSRR low-dropout linear regulator with a fixed 3.3V output voltage. Designed specifically for noise-sensitive applications, it provides 70dB power supply rejection ratio at 10kHz and only 32uVRMS output noise (10Hz to 100kHz) with a 0.01uF noise bypass capacitor. The 112mV dropout voltage at 200mA allows operation from supplies as low as 3.47V. A noise reduction (NR) pin with an external capacitor filters the internal bandgap reference voltage, dramatically reducing output noise. The fast 50us start-up time is achieved with an active quick discharge circuit on the NR capacitor.

The TPS79333DBVR operates as a low-noise precision LDO regulator. (1) The internal bandgap reference provides a stable voltage that is amplified by an internal resistor divider to produce the 3.3V output. The noise reduction (NR) pin allows an external bypass capacitor to filter the reference voltage noise, which is the dominant source of output noise at low frequencies. (2) The error amplifier compares a fraction of the output voltage with the filtered reference and drives the P-channel pass transistor to maintain regulation. (3) The high PSRR of 70dB is achieved through the combination of the filtered reference, high-gain error amplifier, and the low output impedance of the pass transistor. The EN pin controls the output, with active discharge of the output capacitor when disabled for fast power-down.
