The ADM2484EBRWZ from Analog Devices is an isolated RS-485/RS-422 transceiver identical in electrical function to the ADM2484EBRWZ-REEL7, differing only in packaging format (tube instead of tape and reel). It integrates a three-channel iCoupler digital isolator with an RS-485 transceiver, providing 2.5kV rms galvanic isolation between the logic side and bus side. The half-duplex transceiver supports data rates up to 20Mbps with full failsafe receiver operation. This tube-packaged version is suitable for lower-volume production or prototyping where tape and reel handling is not required.

The ADM2484EBRWZ operates identically to the REEL7 variant. (1) The iCoupler digital isolator transfers DI, DE, and RE logic signals across the 2.5kV rms isolation barrier using on-chip transformer coupling with CMOS encoding/decoding. (2) The RS-485 transceiver on the bus side converts single-ended logic to differential bus signals for transmission (A/B pins) and converts received differential signals back to single-ended logic on RO. (3) The driver enable (DE) and receiver enable (RE) control the direction for half-duplex operation, with full failsafe receiver ensuring logic-high output during bus idle, open, or short conditions.
