The TPA0211DGNR from Texas Instruments is a 2-W mono bridge-tied-load (BTL) Class-AB audio power amplifier designed to drive speakers with as low as 4-Ohm impedance. It operates from a 2.5V to 5.5V supply, delivering 2W into 4 Ohm at 5V or 0.6W at 3V. The amplifier supports both BTL mode for speaker driving and single-ended mode for headphone output, making it ideal for portable devices requiring both speaker and earphone capability. The integrated depop circuit eliminates audible clicks during power transitions.

The TPA0211 consists of an input stage with user-configurable gain and a power output stage. The gain is set by an external input resistor and an internal 50 kOhm feedback resistor. The power stage is internally configured with a gain of -1.25 V/V in SE mode and -2.5 V/V in BTL mode. In BTL mode, two amplifiers drive the speaker differentially, doubling the voltage swing across the load and providing four times the output power compared to SE mode. The shutdown pin disables the amplifier for power savings with only 1 uA quiescent current.
