The STM32L476RET6 from STMicroelectronics is an ultra-low-power 32-bit microcontroller based on the ARM Cortex-M4 processor core with floating-point unit (FPU), operating at frequencies up to 80 MHz and delivering 100 DMIPS performance. The device integrates 512 KB of dual-bank Flash memory supporting read-while-write operations and 128 KB of SRAM including 32 KB with hardware parity check that can be retained in Standby mode. The rich peripheral set includes three 12-bit ADCs at 5 Msps with hardware oversampling up to 16-bit resolution, two 12-bit DACs, two operational amplifiers with programmable gain, two ultra-low-power comparators, a USB OTG Full-Speed interface, an LCD controller, and 16 timers including two advanced motor-control timers. The device supports 18 communication interfaces including six USARTs, three I2C, three SPI, CAN 2.0B, two Serial Audio Interfaces (SAI), Single Wire Protocol Master Interface (SWPMI), and SDMMC. The FlexPowerControl architecture enables ultra-low-power modes down to 30 nA in Shutdown mode.

The STM32L476RET6 uses the ARM Cortex-M4 core with FPU, executing Thumb-2 instructions at up to 80 MHz through the ART Accelerator which provides 0-wait-state execution from Flash using instruction and data caches with prefetch. The Adaptive Real-Time (ART) accelerator eliminates Flash wait states by pre-fetching instructions and data. The multi-AHB bus matrix connects the CPU, DMA controllers, and peripherals through separate buses for concurrent access. The dual-bank Flash allows code execution from one bank while erasing or programming the other bank. The DFSDM peripheral interfaces directly with external sigma-delta modulators and provides digital filtering for precision measurement. Power management uses an internal LDO with multiple voltage domains, and the FlexPowerControl allows software to select among Run, Low-Power Run, Sleep, Low-Power Sleep, Stop 0/1/2, Standby, and Shutdown modes with different peripheral retention and wakeup latencies.
