MAX3079EESD+T

The MAX3079EESD+T from Analog Devices (Maxim) is a 3.3V RS-485/RS-422 full-duplex transceiver supporting data rates up to 16Mbps. The full-duplex architecture provides separate driver outputs (Y/Z) and receiver inputs (A/B). ±15kV ESD protection on all bus pins ensures robust operation. The 1/4 unit load receiver allows up to 256 transceivers on a single bus. Thermal shutdown and current limiting protect against fault conditions, while the receiver fail-safe ensures a known output state when the bus is open or shorted.

The MAX3079E converts single-ended TTL/CMOS logic to differential RS-485/RS-422 signals. The driver outputs (Y/Z) generate complementary differential signals compliant with RS-485 levels, while the receiver inputs (A/B) detect differential signals as small as 200mV. At 16Mbps, the device supports high-speed synchronous protocols. The 1/4 unit load design allows 256 transceivers on the bus. The receiver fail-safe biases inputs to ensure logic-high output when the bus is open, shorted, or all drivers are disabled.
