The HEF4053BT from Nexperia is a triple single-pole double-throw analog switch designed for 2:1 multiplexer/demultiplexer applications. Each of the three switches has a digital select input (Sn), two independent inputs/outputs (Y0 and Y1), and a common input/output (Z). A common enable input (E) turns off all switches when HIGH. The device features a wide supply voltage range of 3V to 15V, CMOS low power dissipation, and high noise immunity. ESD protection exceeds 2000V HBM, ensuring robust operation in demanding environments.

The HEF4053BT uses CMOS transmission gate structures for each SPDT switch. Each switch consists of two parallel MOSFET pairs (N-channel and P-channel) that conduct bidirectionally when enabled. The select input determines which of the two channels (Y0 or Y1) is connected to the common terminal Z. The enable input E, when HIGH, disables all three switches regardless of select inputs. The device features clamp diodes on inputs to limit voltages exceeding VDD or VSS, enabling interfacing with higher voltage signals using current-limiting resistors.
