The ERJ-6ENF1003V from Panasonic is a 100kOhm, +/-1% tolerance, 0.25W (1/4W) thick film chip resistor in a 0805 surface-mount package. The 100kOhm resistance value is commonly used in high-impedance circuits including op-amp bias networks, low-current feedback dividers, capacitor discharge paths, and precision timing networks. The +/-1% tolerance ensures accurate resistance values in circuits where the high impedance makes even small percentage errors significant. The +/-100 ppm/C TCR provides stability over the wide -55C to +155C operating range. At 100kOhm and 0.25W, the maximum continuous voltage is approximately 158V (limited by the 150V working voltage rating), and the maximum continuous current is approximately 1.58mA. The thick film construction on alumina substrate provides reliability and cost-effectiveness. The 0805 package is compatible with standard automated pick-and-place assembly equipment.

The ERJ-6ENF1003V uses the same thick film technology as the ERJ-6ENF1002V but with a 100kOhm resistive track. (1) Higher Resistance: The 100kOhm value is achieved through a higher-resistivity thick film paste composition and/or a longer, narrower printed pattern. The resistive paste may use a lower concentration of conductive ruthenium oxide particles in the glass frit matrix to increase resistance. (2) Laser Trimming: Precision laser cuts in the thick film pattern fine-tune the resistance to within +/-1% of the target value. The cuts increase the effective path length of the current flow. (3) Voltage Coefficient: At higher resistance values, the voltage coefficient of resistance (VCR) becomes more significant. The VCR for thick film resistors is typically -20 to -50 ppm/V, meaning resistance decreases slightly at higher applied voltages. For most applications at 100kOhm, this effect is negligible. (4) Power Derating: The 0.25W rating applies up to 70C ambient temperature, with linear derating to zero power at 155C.
