The AMS1117-1.8 from Advanced Monolithic Systems is a 1A low-dropout (LDO) linear voltage regulator with a fixed 1.8V output. With 1.1V max dropout at 1A, it provides a stable 1.8V rail for FPGA core, DDR memory, and MCU core supplies from a 3V to 15V input.

The AMS1117-1.8 is a 1A low-dropout linear voltage regulator from Advanced Monolithic Systems providing fixed 1.8V output in SOT-223 package. With 1.1V max dropout at full 1A load, it operates from inputs as low as 2.9V. The 1.8V output serves FPGA core voltages, DDR memory VDDQ, and low-voltage MCU cores. Internal thermal shutdown and current limiting protect against faults. A minimum 10uF output capacitor ensures stability. Pin-compatible with other 1117-series devices.

The AMS1117-1.8 uses a PNP pass transistor in a low-dropout configuration. The error amplifier compares a scaled output voltage with an internal 1.25V bandgap reference. An internal resistor divider sets the 1.8V output: VOUT = VREF x (1 + R1/R2) = 1.8V. Thermal shutdown activates at approximately 150C junction temperature, and current limiting protects against overload. The output capacitor provides loop compensation.
