The 60R050XU is a 50A 600V dual IGBT power module in a 62mm industry-standard package (half-bridge configuration). The two IGBTs form a half-bridge leg: IGBT1 is the high-side switch (collector connected to DC bus positive), and IGBT2 is the low-side switch (emitter connected to DC bus negative). The midpoint (junction of E1 and C2) connects to the load (motor winding or inductor). Each IGBT has an anti-parallel freewheeling diode (FWD) integrated into the module for inductive load current commutation. The IGBT technology is typically planar or trench-gate with field-stop, providing VCE(sat) of approximately 1.8V at rated current. The FWD has a forward voltage drop of approximately 1.6V. The module includes an integrated NTC thermistor mounted near the IGBT dies for junction temperature estimation, enabling thermal protection and derating. The auxiliary emitter pins provide a clean ground reference for the gate driver, separate from the high-current main emitter, reducing ground bounce and preventing spurious turn-on during switching transients. The 62mm package uses Al2O3 direct-bonded copper (DBC) substrates for electrical isolation and thermal conduction. The baseplate is copper-nickel plated, mounted to the heatsink with thermal compound (Rth(j-c) approximately 0.5C/W per IGBT). The module is rated for 50A at Tc=25C, derating to approximately 35A at Tc=80C. Switching frequency is typically 5-20kHz for motor drives and 20-40kHz for welding applications.
