The TPS7A0533PDQNR is an ultra-small, ultra-low quiescent current LDO regulator from Texas Instruments that sources 200 mA with excellent transient performance. The fixed 3.3V output version features 1% typical accuracy and an IQ of just 1 µA, significantly extending battery life in always-on applications. The device operates from a 1.4V to 5.5V input range, making it compatible with single-cell Li-ion and Li-primary batteries as well as two to three alkaline cells. The X2SON-4 package occupies just 1 mm² of board area.

The TPS7A0533PDQNR uses a PMOS pass transistor in a series-regulator topology. An internal bandgap reference provides a stable voltage that is compared against a divided version of the output. The error amplifier drives the PMOS gate to maintain regulation. The ultra-low 1 µA IQ is achieved through a specialized bias circuit that minimizes quiescent current while maintaining regulation and transient response. The active output discharge circuit activates when the enable pin is driven low, pulling the output to ground through an internal switch. Foldback current limiting reduces the current limit during short-circuit conditions to protect the device.
