The TNY267PN from Power Integrations is a higher-power member of the TinySwitch-II family, integrating a 700V power MOSFET and ON/OFF controller in a single DIP-8 package. With a higher current limit than TNY266, it delivers up to 15W from universal 85-265VAC input or 23W at 230VAC. The device features built-in auto-restart for fault protection, frequency jittering for EMI reduction, and simple ON/OFF control that eliminates loop compensation. The 132kHz switching frequency allows use of small, low-cost transformer cores.

The TNY267PN uses the same ON/OFF control scheme as the TNY266PN but with a higher internal current limit (~450mA vs ~350mA) for greater output power capability. The EN/UV pin monitors output regulation via an optocoupler, enabling or skipping switching cycles to maintain regulation. The higher MOSFET current limit allows more energy per switching cycle, increasing the maximum output power. During fault conditions, the auto-restart circuit limits average output power to safe levels by imposing a low duty cycle on the switching activity.
