Utilizing MnO2 cathode technology, it provides stable capacitance over a wide temperature range of -55°C to +125°C with typical ESR of 2.5 Ohms. The MnO2 cathode provides self-healing capability, where localized dielectric faults are isolated by the MnO2 converting to Mn2O3 under fault current, maintaining capacitor integrity. The B case size (1210) offers an optimal balance between capacitance density and board space, making it suitable for power supply filtering, decoupling, and energy storage in consumer, industrial, and automotive electronics.

The TAJB106K025RNJ is a solid tantalum capacitor using a sintered tantalum pellet anode with a thin tantalum pentoxide (Ta2O5) dielectric layer formed by anodic oxidation. The MnO2 cathode layer is deposited over the dielectric, providing the counter-electrode and self-healing capability. When a localized dielectric breakdown occurs, the fault current heats the MnO2 at the fault site, converting it to lower-conductivity Mn2O3, which effectively isolates the defect and restores insulation. This self-healing mechanism provides inherent fail-safe behavior. The capacitance value is determined by the Ta2O5 dielectric thickness (controlled by formation voltage) and the anode surface area. The 25V rating with 10 uF capacitance provides a CV product of 250 uF-V in a compact 1210 footprint, characteristic of tantalum’s high volumetric efficiency.
