The SWPA4018S4R7MT is a shielded wirewound power inductor from the SWPA series providing 4.7 uH inductance in a 4.0 x 1.8 mm surface-mount package. With 1.3 A saturation current and 130 mOhm maximum DCR, it is designed for DC-DC buck converter output inductors and energy storage in portable and IoT devices. The magnetic shielding reduces EMI interference with nearby circuits. The 1.8 mm profile suits slim form-factor designs such as smartphones and wearables.

The SWPA4018S4R7MT uses a ferrite-core wirewound construction with an integrated magnetic shield. The ferrite drum core concentrates the magnetic flux, while the shield cap containing the flux lines reduces radiated emissions. During DC-DC converter operation, the 4.7 uH inductor smooths the pulsed current from the switching MOSFET, converting it to a relatively constant output current. The inductance value, together with the switching frequency and duty cycle, determines the ripple current amplitude. The 4.7 uH value is optimal for converters operating at 1-3 MHz with output currents in the 0.5-1 A range.
