The BCM43217 integrates a 2.4 GHz radio transceiver, baseband processor, MAC layer, and Bluetooth core on a single die. The 2×2 MIMO architecture uses two spatial streams to improve throughput and range compared to single-antenna designs. The Wi-Fi MAC implements CSMA/CA channel access, fragmentation, and power save polling. The SDIO 3.0 host interface provides high-throughput data transfer to the host processor at up to 100 MB/s. The integrated Bluetooth coexistence mechanism uses time-division multiplexing to prevent Wi-Fi and Bluetooth from transmitting simultaneously, with hardware signaling between the two radio subsystems.
