The STM32L151C8T6 from STMicroelectronics is an ultra-low-power 32-bit microcontroller based on the ARM Cortex-M3 core operating at up to 32MHz in an LQFP-48 package. Part of the STM32L1 series, the device offers significantly more processing power than the Cortex-M0+ STM32L0 series while maintaining excellent low-power characteristics. The 64KB Flash and 10KB SRAM provide adequate code and data space, while 4KB of true EEPROM enables reliable storage of calibration data and configuration parameters without Flash wear concerns. Two 12-bit DACs enable dual analog output channels, useful for waveform generation and control loops. An integrated LCD controller drives segment displays with up to 4×40 segments, ideal for metering and instrumentation applications. The 12-bit ADC at 1MSPS with hardware oversampling supports precise analog measurement. USB 2.0 full-speed device with crystal-less internal 48MHz oscillator simplifies USB connectivity. Low-power modes include Sleep (6.4uA), Stop (0.5uA with RTC), and Standby (0.28uA with RTC), with Stop-to-Run wake-up in under 10us.

The STM32L151C8T6 operates on the ARM Cortex-M3 core with optimized low-power design. (1) Core: The Cortex-M3 provides higher performance than M0+ cores with hardware divide, bit-band operation, and more efficient interrupt handling, while the 32MHz clock keeps dynamic power consumption low. (2) Voltage Regulator: An internal voltage regulator provides three output ranges. Range 1 (1.8V) supports full 32MHz operation. Range 2 (1.5V) supports up to 16MHz with lower power. Range 3 (1.2V) supports up to 4MHz with minimum power. The range is selected based on the required clock speed. (3) Low-Power Modes: Sleep mode stops the CPU while peripherals run. Stop mode halts all clocks, retaining SRAM and register contents. LP Stop mode additionally reduces the voltage regulator output for sub-microamp current. Standby mode powers down everything except the RTC and wakeup logic. (4) EEPROM: The 4KB EEPROM area uses a dedicated charge pump and write mechanism separate from the Flash, supporting 100K erase/write cycles and 10-year data retention at 85C. (5) LCD Controller: The integrated LCD controller generates the segment and common drive waveforms for direct LCD glass connection, eliminating external display drivers.
