The STM32F072VBT6 from STMicroelectronics is a Mainstream ARM Cortex-M0 32-bit RISC microcontroller in a LQFP-100 package. Operating at up to 48MHz with 128KB Flash and 16KB SRAM, it features a crystal-less USB 2.0 Full-Speed device interface that eliminates the need for an external crystal for USB operation, reducing BOM cost. The device includes CAN 2.0B active, HDMI CEC, four USARTs, two SPI/I2S, and two I2C interfaces. A 12-bit 1Msps ADC with up to 16 channels and a dual-channel 12-bit DAC provide analog capability. Seven 16-bit timers, one 32-bit timer, and an advanced-control PWM timer support complex timing and motor control. Up to 87 fast I/Os with 5V-tolerant capability provide flexible connectivity. The device operates from 2.0V to 3.6V with comprehensive power-saving modes.

The STM32F072VBT6 integrates an ARM Cortex-M0 core with rich peripheral set. (1) CPU: The Cortex-M0 is a 32-bit RISC processor with a 3-stage pipeline executing most 16-bit Thumb instructions in one cycle. The NVIC supports up to 32 external interrupts with configurable priority. (2) Crystal-Less USB: An internal 48MHz oscillator with automatic USB frame synchronization (SOF packet trimming) provides the USB clock without an external crystal. This reduces cost and PCB area for USB applications. (3) CAN: The bxCAN controller handles CAN 2.0A and 2.0B active protocol with two receive FIFOs and three transmit mailboxes. (4) ADC: The 12-bit SAR ADC uses a switched-capacitor architecture with 1Msps throughput and hardware oversampling for improved effective resolution. (5) DAC: Two 12-bit resistor-string DACs provide analog output with configurable buffer and waveform generation. (6) Power Management: Multiple power domains and clock gating allow fine-grained power optimization. Stop mode retains SRAM and register contents with sub-uA consumption.
