The Vishay SS56-E3/57T is a 5A 60V Schottky rectifier in SMB package with 0.55V typical forward voltage at 5A. The higher 60V rating makes it suitable for 12V and 24V systems, while the 5A current handling covers a wide range of medium-power applications. The SMB package provides better thermal performance than SMA for the higher power dissipation.

The SS56-E3/57T uses a metal-silicon Schottky barrier junction providing low forward voltage (0.55V) and zero reverse recovery time. The larger chip area compared to the SS34 provides 5A current capability. The SMB package has a larger thermal pad area than SMA, reducing thermal resistance and enabling higher power dissipation. The guard ring structure provides controlled breakdown characteristics for overvoltage protection.
