The SN74LVC07ADR from Texas Instruments is a hex buffer/driver with open-drain outputs in a 14-pin SOIC package. Each buffer features an open-drain output that can be pulled up to any voltage up to 5.5V, enabling level translation between different voltage domains. The inputs are over-voltage tolerant to 5.5V regardless of VCC. With 24mA output sink capability and 5.6ns propagation delay at 3.3V, it can drive capacitive loads and wired-OR bus lines at high speed. The Ioff feature ensures outputs are high-impedance when VCC is 0V.

Each buffer consists of an input stage and an open-drain N-channel MOSFET output. When the input is high, the output MOSFET turns on, pulling the output low (sinking up to 24mA). When the input is low, the output MOSFET turns off and the output floats. An external pull-up resistor establishes the logic-high level. The open-drain architecture enables wired-OR connections and level translation where the output pull-up voltage can differ from VCC.
