The TI SN65HVD75DR is a 3.3V RS-485 transceiver in SOIC-8 package supporting data rates up to 25Mbps. The 1/4-unit load receiver impedance allows up to 128 nodes on a single bus. The fail-safe receiver design outputs logic-high when the bus is idle, open, or shorted, eliminating the need for external bias resistors in many applications.

The SN65HVD75DR provides bidirectional half-duplex communication between a UART (TXD/RXD) and the RS-485 differential bus (A/B). The driver converts single-ended TXD to differential A/B signals, while the receiver converts differential A/B to single-ended RXD. The DE (driver enable) and RE (receiver enable) pins control the direction. The 1/4-unit load (48kOhm) receiver impedance allows 128 devices on one bus (vs. 32 for full unit load). The fail-safe receiver ensures logic-high output when the differential input is between -200mV and +200mV, covering idle and open-circuit bus conditions.
