The S25FL128SAGNFA003 uses Infineon MirrorBit technology to store two bits per memory cell by independently controlling charge placement on two distinct regions of the floating gate, doubling density compared to single-bit NOR Flash. The SPI interface serializes all commands, addresses, and data through a minimum of 4 signal lines (SI, SO, SCK, CS) in Single I/O mode, with additional data lines (WP#/IO2, HOLD#/IO3) repurposed for Dual and Quad I/O modes. In Quad I/O mode at 133MHz, the effective data throughput reaches 532Mbps, enabling XIP operation. The device operates through a command-based protocol: the host asserts CS, clocks in an opcode followed by address bytes, then reads or writes data. The Write State Machine handles internal programming and erase algorithms including high-voltage generation and verification. The AutoBoot feature stores a predefined address and read length in non-volatile configuration registers; upon power-on, the device automatically outputs this data without requiring host initialization, enabling faster system boot times.
