The S1M-E3/61T operates as a standard PN junction rectifier diode with glass passivation for enhanced reliability: 1) PN Junction: The diode allows current flow in the forward direction (anode to cathode) while blocking current in the reverse direction up to the peak repetitive reverse voltage of 1000V. The glass passivation layer protects the junction surface from contamination and moisture, reducing leakage current and improving long-term reliability. 2) Forward Conduction: When forward-biased above the threshold voltage, the diode conducts with a low forward voltage drop of 1.1V at 1A, minimizing power dissipation in the application. 3) Reverse Blocking: In reverse bias, the diode blocks current flow with a typical leakage of only 1uA at rated voltage. The reverse recovery time of 1.8us represents the time required to switch from forward conduction to reverse blocking state.
