The 1206 package provides higher power dissipation and 200V working voltage, making it suitable for power supply bias networks, LED current limiting, and industrial control circuits where smaller packages cannot handle the power requirements.

The RC1206FR-0710KL uses thick film resistive technology on an alumina substrate with laser trimming for ±1% tolerance. The larger 1206 package provides a wider resistive element that can dissipate 1/4W, compared to 1/10W for the 0603 version. The increased surface area also improves thermal conductivity to the PCB, lowering the operating temperature at a given power level.
