It integrates 14KB Flash program memory, 368 bytes of RAM, and 256 bytes of EEPROM. The device features 24 I/O pins, an 11-channel 10-bit ADC, two comparators, one CCP module, one Enhanced CCP module with auto-shutdown and PWM steering, an EUSART supporting RS-485/RS-232/LIN, and an MSSP supporting both SPI and I2C with address mask capability. A precision internal oscillator is factory calibrated to ±1% accuracy.

The PIC16F886 uses Microchip’s mid-range 8-bit PIC core with a 2-stage pipeline executing most instructions in a single cycle (200ns at 20MHz). The 14KB Flash stores up to 8192 x 14-bit instructions, while 368 bytes of SRAM and 256 bytes of EEPROM provide data storage. The internal oscillator can be software-configured from 8MHz down to 31kHz for power optimization. The Enhanced CCP module supports capture, compare, and up to 4 PWM outputs with auto-shutdown capability and PWM steering for motor control. The MSSP module operates as either a 3-wire SPI master/slave or an I2C master/slave with 7-bit and 10-bit addressing. The EUSART supports full-duplex asynchronous communication with auto-baud detection and auto-wake-up on start bit reception.
