The X5R dielectric provides +/-15% capacitance stability over the -55 to +85 deg C operating range. The 0402 footprint enables high-density placement in space-constrained designs. This capacitor is optimized for decoupling and noise filtering in power supply lines of digital circuits, microcontrollers, and mobile platforms.

The MSASJ105BB5475MFNA01 MLCC uses alternating layers of barium titanate-based ceramic dielectric and nickel inner electrodes, co-fired at high temperature to form a monolithic structure. The X5R dielectric formulation achieves a stable capacitance-temperature profile by doping the BaTiO3 base with rare-earth additives that suppress the Curie peak. During operation, the capacitor stores charge between the interleaved electrode layers. The effective capacitance is the sum of all parallel layer capacitances. The low ESR results from the short current path through the multiple parallel electrode layers, providing effective high-frequency noise suppression.
