The MPQ8901DD-AEC1 is an AEC-Q100 qualified ultra-low-noise LDO linear regulator from Monolithic Power Systems. With 36V maximum input, 500mA output current, and only 200mV dropout, it provides 72dB PSRR and 6.5μV RMS output noise—ideal for noise-sensitive automotive ADAS, infotainment, and sensor power rails. The adjustable output starts from 0.8V, and the enable pin supports power sequencing. Packaged in a compact SOT-89-5 with robust current limit and thermal shutdown protection.

The MPQ8901DD-AEC1 operates as a series-pass linear regulator. A precision bandgap reference provides the target voltage, and an error amplifier drives the pass transistor to maintain the output at the programmed level. The ultra-low noise performance is achieved through optimized internal biasing and a noise-reduction capacitor on the reference pin. The high PSRR results from the high open-loop gain of the error amplifier and the low output impedance of the pass element. Current limiting is implemented by sensing the pass transistor current and limiting the gate drive when the threshold is exceeded. Thermal shutdown disables the pass element when the junction temperature exceeds the safe limit.
