The MPQ6423GRJ is a Monolithic Power Systems AEC-Q100 qualified 36V, 3A synchronous step-down converter. With ultra-low 2.5μA shutdown current and 40μA quiescent current, it is ideal for automotive battery-powered and always-on systems. The 2.1MHz switching frequency enables small inductor and capacitor solutions. Integrated MOSFETs, selectable PFM/FCCM modes, external sync, and comprehensive protection make it suitable for automotive ECU, ADAS, and industrial 24V applications.

The MPQ6423GRJ operates as a peak current mode synchronous buck converter. In PFM mode, the device reduces switching frequency at light loads to minimize losses, achieving 40μA quiescent current. In FCCM mode, the switching frequency is maintained at 2.1MHz regardless of load, ensuring low output ripple. The peak current mode control provides cycle-by-cycle current limiting and fast transient response. External frequency synchronization allows multiple converters to operate at the same frequency, avoiding beat frequency noise. The 2.5μA shutdown current ensures minimal battery drain in always-connected automotive systems.
