The MPQ4572GRE-AEC1 is an AEC-Q100 Grade 0 qualified fully integrated synchronous buck converter from Monolithic Power Systems. With a wide 4.5V to 60V input range, it is designed for automotive applications requiring operation through cold-crank and load-dump conditions. The device delivers up to 2A continuous output current with peak current mode control, features AAM mode for excellent light-load efficiency, and achieves 2μA shutdown quiescent current for battery-powered systems. Comprehensive protection includes valley OCP, hiccup SCP, UVLO, and auto-recovery OTP.

The MPQ4572GRE-AEC1 operates as a peak current mode synchronous buck converter. The high-side MOSFET is controlled by a peak current comparator that compares the sensed inductor current against an error amplifier output. The internal slope compensation ensures stability at duty cycles above 50%. In AAM mode, the device reduces switching frequency at light loads to minimize switching and gate drive losses, maintaining high efficiency. The low-side MOSFET replaces the external Schottky diode for synchronous rectification. The built-in high duty cycle and low dropout mode allows operation through automotive cold-crank when the battery voltage drops significantly. The valley current limit monitors the low-side MOSFET current to provide cycle-by-cycle overcurrent protection.
