The MPQ4312GRE-AEC1-Z is an MPS AEC-Q100 qualified 45V, 2A synchronous step-down converter with frequency spread spectrum for EMI reduction. Operating from 4.2V to 45V, it provides load-dump protection for automotive 12V/24V bus systems. The spread spectrum function dithers the switching frequency to reduce peak EMI emissions. Ultra-low quiescent current in PFM mode, external frequency sync, LDO mode for low dropout, and comprehensive protection make it ideal for automotive ECU, ADAS, and industrial 24V power applications.

The MPQ4312GRE-AEC1-Z operates as a peak current mode synchronous buck converter. The integrated high-side and low-side MOSFETs switch at 200kHz-2.2MHz to step down the input voltage. In PFM mode at light loads, the switching frequency reduces automatically to maintain efficiency. The spread spectrum function modulates the switching frequency around the center frequency (typically ±5-10% dithering at a low frequency rate), spreading the switching harmonic energy across a wider bandwidth and reducing peak EMI readings. The SYNC pin allows external clock synchronization for multi-converter systems. LDO mode increases the maximum duty cycle to maintain output regulation even when VIN approaches VOUT. Cycle-by-cycle current limiting, output OVP, input UVLO, and thermal shutdown provide comprehensive fault protection.
