The MPQ3324GRE-AEC1 is an MPS AEC-Q100 qualified 8-channel, 100mA/channel LED driver with I2C interface and separated PWM plus analog dimming. Each channel provides independent 12-bit PWM resolution and 7-bit analog current control, enabling precise brightness and color mixing for automotive LED lighting. The device features open/short LED detection per channel, thermal warning and shutdown, and phase-shift PWM for reduced input ripple. Available in SOIC-24 EP package, it is ideal for automotive tail lights, ambient lighting, and dashboard backlights.

The MPQ3324GRE-AEC1 operates as an 8-channel constant current sink LED driver. Each channel uses a low-side N-channel MOSFET to regulate the LED current through an internal current regulation loop. The I2C interface allows individual channel current programming with 7-bit analog resolution (128 steps) and 12-bit PWM duty cycle control (4096 steps). The separated dimming architecture means the analog current and PWM duty cycle are independently controlled, providing 128 x 4096 = 524,288 effective dimming steps per channel. Phase-shift PWM distributes the switching events across channels to minimize peak input current. Open LED detection monitors each channel’s voltage to identify disconnected strings, while short LED detection identifies fault conditions by monitoring channel voltage relative to the supply.
