The MPQ2483ADS-AEC1-LF-Z is an MPS AEC-Q100 qualified 55V, 2.5A LED driver supporting both buck and buck-boost topologies. It integrates a 0.28Ω power MOSFET switch and features combined analog and PWM dimming on a single EN/DIM pin. The separate input reference ground enables direct control for positive-to-negative power conversion in buck-boost configurations. With 0.198V low reference voltage, 5μA shutdown current, and comprehensive protection (OCP, OVP, SCP, open-string, thermal shutdown), it is ideal for automotive headlight, DRL, and fog light LED applications.

The MPQ2483ADS-AEC1-LF-Z operates as a current-mode LED driver. The error amplifier compares the LED current sense voltage (across an external sense resistor) against the 0.198V internal reference. The error amplifier output controls the peak inductor current through the PWM comparator and RS flip-flop, which drives the internal 0.28Ω MOSFET switch. The external Schottky diode conducts the inductor current during the off-time. The EN/DIM pin serves dual purpose: a DC voltage above the enable threshold turns on the device, and voltage variations around the threshold provide analog dimming. A PWM signal on the same pin chops the LED current on and off for PWM dimming. In buck-boost mode, the separate input reference ground (VSS) allows the LED cathode to be connected below ground, enabling positive-to-negative conversion. OVP monitors the output voltage through a resistor divider, and open-string protection activates when the OVP threshold is reached.
