The MCP6042 operates as a dual CMOS operational amplifier optimized for micropower applications: 1) Input Stage: The rail-to-rail input stage uses complementary P-channel and N-channel differential pairs that cover the full supply voltage range from VSS-0.3V to VDD+0.3V, with ultra-low 1pA input bias current from CMOS gate leakage. 2) Gain Stage: The internal voltage gain stage provides 110dB open-loop gain, ensuring good DC precision despite the 3mV maximum input offset voltage. 3) Output Stage: The rail-to-rail CMOS output stage can swing from VSS to VDD with light loads, and drives up to 20mA for heavier loads.
