The MBRS340T3G is a surface-mount Schottky power rectifier from onsemi, rated at 3 A forward current and 40 V reverse voltage. Featuring a low forward voltage drop of 0.5 V at 3 A, this device minimizes power dissipation in high-efficiency rectification circuits. The SMC (DO-214AB) package offers excellent thermal performance with a wide operating junction temperature range of -65 to +150 degrees C. AEC-Q101 qualified, it is suitable for automotive and industrial applications requiring robust, low-loss rectification.
The MBRS340T3G operates as a Schottky barrier rectifier, utilizing a metal-semiconductor junction rather than a traditional P-N junction. This structure eliminates minority carrier storage, resulting in negligible reverse recovery time and reduced switching losses. The guard-ring construction around the Schottky junction provides stress protection and improves reverse voltage capability. Under forward bias, majority carriers cross the barrier with low resistance, producing the characteristic low forward voltage drop. Under reverse bias, the barrier prevents current flow until breakdown, providing reliable blocking up to the rated 40 V.
