The LT1534IS-1#TRPBF is an Analog Devices (Linear Technology) low-noise isolated DC-DC converter controller that uses patented edge-slowing technology to reduce switching transition dv/dt and di/dt, dramatically lowering conducted and radiated EMI without additional filtering. Operating from 2.7V to 30V input with adjustable 20-250 kHz switching frequency, the push-pull topology drives an isolation transformer to create a fully isolated output. The independent VSLEW and ISLEW pins allow designers to optimize the voltage and current slew rates for minimum EMI while maintaining efficiency, making it ideal for medical, industrial, and aerospace isolated power supplies.

The LT1534 controls external MOSFET switches in a push-pull configuration to drive the primary winding of an isolation transformer. The key innovation is the edge-slowing circuit: the VSLEW pin sets the maximum dv/dt rate of the switch node voltage, and the ISLEW pin sets the maximum di/dt rate of the switch current. By limiting these slew rates, the harmonic content of the switching waveforms is dramatically reduced — harmonics above the slew-rate-determined corner frequency are attenuated by 20-40 dB compared to hard-switched converters. This allows the converter to pass EMI compliance tests without common-mode chokes or shielded transformers, reducing BOM cost and solution size.
