The HMC561LP3ETR is a GaAs MMIC divide-by-2 frequency divider from Analog Devices, input frequency 6-18GHz, 0dBm output power, in a QFN-24 package, suitable for microwave frequency synthesis and phase-locked loops.

The HMC561LP3ETR is a GaAs PHEMT-based x2 active frequency multiplier from Analog Devices, operating from 8 GHz to 21 GHz output frequency. When driven with a 0 to +6 dBm input signal, it delivers +14 dBm typical output power with excellent Fo and 3Fo isolation of 15 dBc at 16 GHz. The additive SSB phase noise of -139 dBc/Hz at 100 kHz offset makes it ideal for low-phase-noise LO chains. Housed in a 16-lead QFN (3 mm x 3 mm) surface-mount package, it eliminates wire bonding and supports standard SMT assembly.

The HMC561LP3ETR utilizes GaAs PHEMT technology to implement an active frequency doubling function. The input RF signal is applied to a nonlinear PHEMT device that generates harmonics of the fundamental frequency. An integrated bandpass filter network extracts the second harmonic (2 x Fin) while suppressing the fundamental (Fo) and third harmonic (3Fo). The active design provides conversion gain rather than loss, delivering +14 dBm output from only +5 dBm input drive. The Vdd supply pin powers the internal amplifier stages, while the Vgg pin allows gate bias adjustment to optimize drain current (Idd) at 98 mA. The AC-coupled RF input and output are internally matched to 50 Ohms, requiring no external matching components.

The HMC-X2-0001 offers x2 multiplication up to 30GHz in bare die form. For x3 multiplication, HMC563LP3ETR provides 12-31.5GHz output. The HMC560LP3ETR is an x2 multiplier optimized for 6-18GHz input with lower phase noise. All HMC LP3-series multipliers share the same 3x3mm QFN-16 footprint for interchangeability.
