The XRP29302ETBTR-L from MaxLinear is a 3A low dropout adjustable voltage regulator designed for low voltage applications requiring fast transient response. The XRP29302 uses a PNP pass transistor in a low-dropout configuration. The internal 1.25V bandgap reference is trimmed on-chip for 1% accuracy. An error amplifier compares the feedback voltage (from the ADJ pin) with the internal reference and drives the PNP pass element to maintain the desired output voltage. The output voltage is set by two external resistors: VOUT = 1.25V x (1 + R1/R2) + IADJ x R2. The ENABLE pin provides a zero-current shutdown mode. Overcurrent protection limits the pass transistor current during fault conditions, while thermal shutdown protects against excessive junction temperature.
