The TS12A12511DCNR is a single-pole double-throw (SPDT) analog switch from Texas Instruments featuring ultra-low 0.9 Ohm on-resistance at 5V supply and 1.8V to 5.5V single-supply operation. The device provides break-before-make switching to prevent momentary signal shorting during commutation, and achieves 300 MHz signal bandwidth with only 15 pC charge injection. The low off-leakage current of ±0.5 nA makes it suitable for precision signal routing in battery-powered instruments. The 1.8V-compatible control input enables direct interface with low-voltage microcontrollers. The tiny SC-70-6 (SOT-363) package occupies minimal PCB area, making it ideal for space-constrained portable applications.

The TS12A12511 uses a CMOS transmission gate structure for each switch element. A transmission gate consists of an N-channel and P-channel MOSFET connected in parallel, with complementary gate drive signals. This parallel configuration provides a low and relatively flat on-resistance across the full signal voltage range, as the NMOS conducts well for signals near ground while the PMOS conducts well for signals near VCC. The SPDT configuration has two transmission gates with a common terminal (COM) and two switched terminals (NO and NC). The control input selects which gate is on: when IN is high, the normally-open (NO) path conducts; when IN is low, the normally-closed (NC) path conducts. The break-before-make circuit adds a brief dead time (both switches open) during transition, preventing the two signal paths from being momentarily shorted together. Charge injection is minimized by matching the NMOS and PMOS charge contributions.
