The TPS562201SDDCR from Texas Instruments is a highly integrated synchronous step-down DC-DC converter delivering up to 2A from a 4.5V to 17V input. Using TI proprietary D-CAP2 control mode, it provides excellent transient response without requiring external compensation components, greatly simplifying design. The device integrates both high-side (120mOhm) and low-side (80mOhm) MOSFETs and operates at a fixed 600kHz switching frequency. In light-load conditions, the auto-skip Eco-mode reduces switching frequency to maintain high efficiency.

The TPS562201SDDCR employs TI D-CAP2 (Direct Control with Adaptive On-time) control architecture. **Control Subsystem**: D-CAP2 uses a comparator-based control loop that directly compares the output voltage against a 0.6V reference. Unlike voltage-mode control, no error amplifier or Type-III compensation is needed. An adaptive on-time generator adjusts the high-side MOSFET on-time to maintain a pseudo-constant 600kHz frequency. **Power Stage**: The integrated high-side N-channel MOSFET (120mOhm) and low-side N-channel MOSFET (80mOhm) form a synchronous buck topology. The low-side MOSFET replaces the traditional Schottky diode, reducing conduction losses. **Light-Load Operation**: In Eco-mode, when the inductor current reaches zero, the low-side MOSFET turns off and the converter enters discontinuous conduction mode (DCM), reducing switching losses at light loads. **Protection**: Over-current protection monitors the low-side MOSFET current. Undervoltage lockout (UVLO) prevents operation below 4.0V input. Thermal shutdown protects at approximately 150C junction temperature.
