The SN74HC125PWR from Texas Instruments is a quad buffer/line driver with 3-state outputs, designed for bus-oriented applications in high-performance digital systems. Each of the four independent buffer gates has an active-low output enable (OE) that places the output in a high-impedance state when asserted, enabling multiple devices to share a common bus. The device operates from a wide 2V to 6V supply range, making it suitable for both 3.3V and 5V systems. With +/-7.8mA output drive capability at 5V and propagation delay of 11ns at 6V, it provides fast, reliable signal buffering. Input clamp diodes protect against overshoot. The SN74HC125PWR is available in a 14-pin TSSOP package rated for -40 to 85 C operation.

The SN74HC125PWR operates as four independent non-inverting buffers with 3-state output control. Key subsystems include: (1) Four Buffer Gates – each gate performs Y=A in positive logic when enabled; the output follows the input with minimal propagation delay; (2) 3-State Output Control – each gate has an active-low OE pin; when OE is high, the output is in a high-impedance (high-Z) state, effectively disconnecting from the bus; when OE is low, the output actively drives high or low; (3) CMOS Output Stage – a push-pull CMOS output provides +/-7.8mA drive with rail-to-rail output swing; (4) Input Protection – clamp diodes on all inputs limit voltage excursions beyond the supply rails, protecting against ESD and overshoot.
