The device integrates a 12-bit ADC with 26 input channels, 4 Configurable Logic Cells (CLC), and Peripheral Pin Select (PPS) for flexible I/O routing. The LCD controller supports up to 61 segments x 8 commons with integrated charge pump for contrast adjustment. The USB module supports all three USB modes with integrated transceiver and on-chip pull-up resistors. The hardware RTCC provides time and date tracking with alarm functionality and battery backup support. The device operates from 2.0V to 3.6V over the -40C to +85C industrial temperature range.

The PIC18F87J94-I/PT operates as a high-performance 8-bit PIC18 microcontroller. (1) PIC18 Core: The CPU executes an extended instruction set at up to 48MHz. The 16-level hardware stack supports nested subroutine calls. Two interrupt priority levels allow time-critical interrupts to preempt lower-priority ones. (2) USB 2.0: The integrated USB transceiver and protocol engine handle Full-Speed (12Mbps) communication. The module supports Device, Host, and OTG modes with 16 bidirectional endpoints. (3) LCD Controller: The segment LCD controller generates the multiplexed drive waveforms for up to 488 segments. The integrated charge pump provides LCD bias voltages independent of VDD. (4) RTCC: The Real-Time Clock Calendar provides seconds, minutes, hours, day, date, month, and year with alarm compare functionality. An external 32.768kHz crystal or the internal oscillator provides the timebase.
