The MPZ2012S300AT000 from TDK is a power-line multilayer ferrite bead providing 30 Ohm impedance at 100 MHz with 6 A rated current and 10 mOhm maximum DC resistance in an 0805 (2012 metric) package. The MPZ series is specifically optimized for power supply lines, featuring lower DC resistance than the MMZ signal-line series. With 6 A current capacity and only 10 mOhm DCR, it effectively suppresses high-frequency noise on high-current power rails while introducing negligible DC voltage drop. Operating from -55 to +125 deg C, it suits automotive, industrial, and consumer applications.

The MPZ2012S300AT000 uses a multilayer ferrite construction where alternating layers of ferrite ceramic and internal silver-palladium electrodes are co-fired into a monolithic chip. The ferrite material exhibits high permeability at low frequencies, allowing DC and low-frequency signals to pass with minimal resistance (10 mOhm DCR). At high frequencies (above the ferrite’s resonant frequency), the material’s complex permeability causes the impedance to increase dramatically, converting noise energy into heat through magnetic hysteresis and eddy current losses. The MPZ series uses a specialized low-DCR ferrite formulation that achieves high impedance at 100 MHz while maintaining ultra-low DC resistance, critical for battery-powered and high-current power supply applications.
