The MAX3221ECPWR from TI is a 1-driver/1-receiver RS-232 transceiver with 3-5.5V supply, 250kbps, +/-15kV ESD, and 1uA auto-powerdown in TSSOP-16.

The MAX3221ECPWR is a 1-driver/1-receiver RS-232 transceiver from Maxim Integrated in TSSOP-16 with ESD protection (+/-15kV HBM). It operates from a single 3.0V to 5.5V supply and generates RS-232 compliant output levels using an internal dual charge pump. The first stage doubles VCC to produce V+ (approximately 2xVCC), and the second inverts V+ to produce V- (approximately -2xVCC). Four external 0.1uF capacitors are required. The driver output swings +/-5.5V at 3.3V supply, and the receiver accepts input levels as low as +/-3V. The single-channel (1/1) configuration is optimized for simple 3-wire serial connections (TX, RX, GND), common in embedded debug ports and GPS modules. The EN (Enable) pin activates the receiver output when HIGH. The SHDN (Shutdown) pin disables the charge pump and reduces supply current to 1uA. The Maxim proprietary auto-powerdown feature (not on all variants) automatically enters low-power mode when no valid RS-232 signal is detected on RIN for 30 seconds. The E suffix indicates ESD protection of +/-15kV HBM on the RS-232 bus pins. The device supports data rates up to 250kbps, suitable for standard serial communication. The C suffix specifies commercial temperature range (0C to +70C), and PWR specifies TSSOP-16 tape-and-reel.
