The LM2901DR2G from onsemi is an AEC-Q100 qualified quad differential comparator in a SOIC-14 package. The device consists of four independent precision voltage comparators designed to operate from a single 2V to 36V supply or dual +/-1V to +/-18V supplies. Each comparator features 2mV typical input offset voltage, 25nA input bias current, and 1.3us typical response time. The open-collector output can be connected to logic supplies via a pull-up resistor and supports wired-OR connections for multi-comparator logic functions. The device is pin-compatible with the industry-standard LM2901/LM339 family. The -40C to +125C automotive temperature range and AEC-Q100 qualification make it suitable for automotive battery monitoring, threshold detection, and industrial comparison applications.

The LM2901DR2G uses a differential input stage with open-collector output. (1) Input Stage: A PNP differential pair provides the input common-mode range down to ground (0V), essential for single-supply operation. The two inputs (IN+ and IN-) are compared with 2mV typical offset. (2) Gain Stage: A high-gain amplification stage provides the comparison function. When IN+ is higher than IN-, the output transistor is off (open-collector, pulled high by external resistor). When IN+ is lower than IN-, the output transistor is on (saturated low). (3) Output Stage: An open-collector NPN output transistor can sink up to 16mA. The open-collector configuration allows wired-OR connections and interfacing to different logic voltage levels. (4) Response: The 1.3us response time is measured with 5mV overdrive and includes the output transition time.
