The LM2675MX-12 from Texas Instruments is a 1A SIMPLE SWITCHER step-down regulator providing a fixed 12V output from 8V to 40V input. With 150 kHz switching frequency, integrated MOSFET, and only a few external components required, it simplifies 24V-to-12V conversion in automotive, industrial, and distributed power systems in a compact SOIC-8 package.

The LM2675MX-12 uses a fixed-frequency current-mode PWM control topology. The internal oscillator generates a 150 kHz clock that sets the switching frequency. The error amplifier compares the internal 12V reference with the output voltage (sampled via the FB pin tied to output for fixed version). The PWM comparator modulates the duty cycle of the integrated high-side NPN Darlington switch. During on-time, current flows from VIN through the switch and inductor to the output capacitor and load. During off-time, the external catch diode provides a current path for the inductor. The current-mode architecture provides cycle-by-cycle current limiting and excellent line regulation. Internal soft-start limits inrush current during startup.
