Packaged in a surface-mount SOT-89 outline, it offers a DC current gain range of 60-400 at -500mA and a transition frequency of 80MHz, making it suitable for audio amplification and medium-power switching applications where surface-mount construction is preferred.

The KSB772YSTU operates as a PNP bipolar junction transistor. Current flows from emitter to collector when a negative base-emitter voltage forward-biases the base-emitter junction. A small base current (IB) controls a much larger collector current (IC), with the ratio defined by hFE (60-400). In saturation mode, VCE(sat) reaches -0.5V maximum at IC=-1A, IB=-50mA, ensuring efficient switching. The 80MHz transition frequency indicates the frequency at which hFE drops to unity, making the device usable for audio frequency amplification and moderate-speed switching.
