The ISO7730FDBQR from Texas Instruments is a high-speed reinforced triple-channel digital isolator in SSOP-16 package. The device provides 3000Vrms reinforced isolation with 85kV/us minimum CMTI, 100Mbps data rate, and 10.7ns typical propagation delay. The 3/0 channel configuration (3 forward, 0 reverse) is ideal for unidirectional signal isolation such as SPI, UART TX, and PWM outputs. The device operates from 2.25V to 5.5V per side, enabling simultaneous voltage level translation across the isolation barrier. The F suffix indicates fail-safe high output, DBQ denotes SSOP-16 package, and R indicates tape and reel.

The ISO7730FDBQR operates as a capacitive-coupled digital isolator. (1) The isolation barrier uses silicon dioxide (SiO2) capacitors to couple digital signals across the barrier while providing galvanic isolation. The high dielectric strength of SiO2 (500V/um) enables the 3000Vrms reinforced isolation rating in a compact chip-scale construction. (2) Each channel contains an input modulator that encodes the digital signal into high-frequency pulses, transmits them across the capacitive barrier, and a demodulator on the receive side reconstructs the original digital signal. The 100Mbps data rate and 10.7ns propagation delay are achieved through optimized encoding and high-speed comparators. (3) The fail-safe output (F suffix) defaults to logic high when the input side is unpowered, preventing undefined states in the receiver. The 85kV/us CMTI ensures reliable operation in noisy motor drive environments with high common-mode transients.
