The HCPL2530SD from Broadcom is a dual-channel high-speed optocoupler with totem-pole output, rated for 10 MBd data rate and 5000 Vrms isolation. The active totem-pole output provides faster switching than open-collector types, making it suitable for IPM inverter gate drive isolation. Each channel has a GaAsP LED optically coupled to an integrated photodetector with logic gate output.

Each channel uses a GaAsP LED coupled to a photodiode and amplifier IC. The photodiode detects the LED light, and the amplifier converts it to a logic output. The totem-pole output stage provides active pull-up and pull-down, enabling faster switching. The integrated detector IC includes a Schmitt trigger for clean logic transitions.
