The DRV8873SPWPR is a 40V 10A H-bridge motor driver from Texas Instruments in HTSSOP-24, with integrated current sense and diagnostics. The N-channel H-bridge uses four MOSFETs with typical RDS(on) of 55mOhm high-side + 55mOhm low-side per half-bridge (110mOhm total per bridge). The integrated charge pump (CP1/CP2 with external 0.022uF capacitor) generates the gate drive voltage for the high-side N-channel MOSFETs, enabling 100% duty cycle operation. The IN1/IN2 pins control the H-bridge in two modes: PH/EN mode (IN1=direction, IN2=enable PWM) or IN/IN mode (IN1=OUT1 control, IN2=OUT2 control), selected via the nSLEEP pin state at power-up. The IPROPI1/IPROPI2 pins provide analog current sense outputs proportional to the motor current: IIPROPI = IMOTOR x AIPROPI / RIPROPI, where AIPROPI = 545 and RIPROPI is set by an external resistor to GND. This eliminates the need for an external sense resistor and ADC, reducing BOM cost. The nFAULT/SO pin reports over-temperature, over-current, and supply faults. The device includes over-current protection (OCP) at approximately 12A, thermal shutdown at 170C, and undervoltage lockout (UVLO) on VM. The HTSSOP-24 with exposed thermal pad provides 25C/W junction-to-ambient thermal resistance, allowing 2-3W dissipation at 25C ambient. The PWPR suffix specifies HTSSOP-24, tape-and-reel.
