The AD8132ARZ-R7 from Analog Devices is a low-cost differential or single-ended input to differential output amplifier designed specifically for driving high-speed analog-to-digital converters. The device features 350MHz -3dB bandwidth, 1200V/us slew rate, and 5.2nV/sqrtHz input voltage noise, making it suitable for driving ADCs with resolutions up to 14 bits at sampling rates up to 100 MSPS. The VOCM pin allows the output common-mode voltage to be set by an external reference or driven by the ADC reference, ensuring optimal ADC performance. The device can be configured as a fully differential amplifier, a single-ended-to-differential converter, or a differential receiver. The wide supply range of +/-1.1V to +/-11V supports ADC reference voltages from 1V to 10V. The -R7 suffix indicates 1000-piece tape and reel packaging.

The AD8132ARZ-R7 operates as a differential amplifier with two feedback loops. (1) Differential Mode: The device amplifies the difference between the +IN and -IN inputs with a gain set by external resistors. The differential output appears between +OUT and -OUT. The differential gain is AD = RF/RG, where RF is the feedback resistor and RG is the gain-setting resistor. (2) Common-Mode Control: The VOCM pin sets the output common-mode voltage. An internal feedback loop forces the average of the two outputs to equal VOCM. This is critical for ADC interfacing, as the ADC reference voltage typically determines the optimal common-mode level. (3) Single-Ended Input: When -IN is grounded through RG, the device converts a single-ended input signal to a differential output. The +IN signal is amplified to produce complementary outputs centered at VOCM. (4) High Speed: The 1200V/us slew rate and 350MHz bandwidth ensure that the differential output settles quickly for high-frequency ADC sampling. The -88dBc harmonic distortion at 5MHz provides excellent linearity for 12-14 bit ADCs.
