The 3303X-3-502E from Bourns is a 5kOhm cermet trimming potentiometer in a 3/8-inch square sealed through-hole package. The cermet resistive element provides excellent stability with low contact resistance variation and low noise. The sealed construction protects against moisture and contaminant ingress, making it suitable for military and industrial environments. The device is rated for 0.5W at 70C with a resistance tolerance of +/-10%. Top-adjust design allows easy access for calibration after PCB assembly. Operating temperature range is -55C to +125C.

The 3303X-3-502E uses a cermet (ceramic-metal) resistive element. (1) Cermet Element: A thick-film cermet material is screen-printed onto a ceramic substrate and fired at high temperature. The resulting resistive track has excellent stability (TCR of +/-100 ppm/C), low noise, and good power handling. (2) Wiper: A multi-finger precious metal wiper contacts the resistive track. Rotating the adjustment screw moves the wiper along the track, varying the resistance between the wiper terminal and each end terminal. (3) Sealed Construction: An O-ring seal between the housing and adjustment shaft prevents moisture and contamination, ensuring reliable operation over the military temperature range. (4) Resolution: Being a continuous (analog) resistive element, the adjustment resolution is essentially infinite within the mechanical resolution of the adjustment screw.
